THE BRIEF

Produced for Red Bull AND RELEASED THROUGH EUROSPORT ITALIA ahead of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, I’M Coming Home follows three of Italy's most accomplished winter athletes:
Sofia Goggia, Dominik Paris, and Dorothea Wierer.

Released ahead of the Rule 40 blackout period, the three-part editorial series combines
documentary storytelling with intimate conversations to explore each athlete's journey through the lens of their past, present, and future.

Rather than producing traditional athlete profiles, the objective was to reveal a more personal perspective. Each episode follows an athlete through
a real day of training while exploring three dimensions of their journey: the experiences that shaped them, the realities of elite performance today, and the ambitions that lie ahead.

The title
I'm Coming Home reflects this dual perspective. On one level, it captures the athletes returning to the places, routines, and people that shaped them. On another, it echoes the anticipation of the Olympic Games returning to Italy — a rare opportunity for three Italian champions to compete on home snow.

The result was
a three-part editorial series designed to feel intimate, authentic, and exclusive,
placing the audience alongside the athletes rather than observing them from a distance.

CREATIVE APPROACH

The series was built around three narrative chapters: Past, Present, and Future.

The Present formed the narrative backbone of each episode. Rather than staging moments for the camera, the series adopted a fly-on-the-wall approach that respected each athlete's routines and environment. Camera movement, sound design, and editing remained deliberately restrained, allowing performance and personality to drive the narrative.

The Past emerged through personal photographs, career milestones, and conversations woven naturally into the training day, creating moments of reflection without interrupting its rhythm.

The Future was explored through dedicated sit-down interviews, inviting each athlete to look beyond competition and toward the approaching Olympic Games.

With no voice-over and minimal use of music, the series relied on authentic conversations, ambient sound, and careful observation to create a sense of proximity rarely found in traditional sports content.

PRODUCTION

The project required weeks of preparation before cameras ever rolled. Extensive pre-production involved coordination with athletes, coaches, locations, and Red Bull's internal teams, while schedules continued to evolve until the final days before production.

Filming took place across multiple locations in Italy, with only
a day and a half allocated to each athlete. During the same production window, Red Bull teams were also creating social content and photography assets, requiring careful coordination and efficient use of limited access.

The series was produced by a
compact specialist crew consisting of a director, two camera operators, a field sound recordist, and a drone/FPV operator. Depending on the athlete and environment, additional systems included ski- and Rifle-mounted cameras, FPV drones, and custom action-camera rigs.

Some of the most demanding sequences involved filming
Sofia Goggia during real downhill training at speeds exceeding 130 km/h. With both athlete and crew safety as the highest priority, every sequence required meticulous planning, close collaboration with coaches, and carefully coordinated camera positions that respected the team's training protocols while minimizing any interference with the session. Operating in such a high-speed alpine environment demanded not only technical precision, but also constant attention to safety throughout the production.

Beyond production,
FASTPACE managed the entire post-production process, including editing, color grading, delivery supervision, and broadcast compliance. Three 10-minute episodes and their accompanying trailers were delivered according to Red Bull's technical specifications, including audio loudness, codec, and color-space requirements.
